Individuals or groups of students are welcome, regardless of age or ability in Spanish. We offer discounts for senior and groups. The host families we have selected and trained are sure to be friendly, helpful and very patient with their guests. We have very experienced instructors, well trained in teaching Spanish to speakers of other languages. Free textbooks to use. We will provide other materials at no extra cost. We will tailor the program around your interests, goals, and individual pace. We prioritize your interests. Your goals are our target. We will arrange meetings with organizations, Political Parties and members of community. We will visit cooperatives and factories inside and outside of the city.


Living with a host family greatly enhances the learning process as well as immersion in the culture. Language is best understood in a cultural context. Host families receive on going guidance dealing with student dietary needs, students natural reticence, and with making students feel as welcome as if they were in their own homes. Many long time friendships have developed between students and their Nicaraguan host families who have been chosen for their patience, hospitality, and sensitive to the needs of visitors from other countries. Host families make breaking the language barrier a natural activity as everyone gathers around the table at meals or to assist with homework whenever necessary. Meetings with members of the community and local leaders, political or social action groups are the second best way to learn about the culture. Such meetings address a variety of topics: health care, education, human rights, welfare, religion, women's issues, political agendas, wages, social programs, etc.

Students let their instructors know which topics let their instructors know which topics interest them, and we schedule participation accordingly. CENAC students are welcome to join Nicaraguans in volunteer work.
